Our Ethical Sourcing Standards — Transparent, Documented and Regularly Reviewed
Every ethical claim we make is backed by something specific. This page explains what that is.
Ethical gifting is a claim that almost everyone in the industry makes and almost no one verifies. Products labelled sustainable with no evidence behind the claim. Eco-friendly packaging around unethically produced contents. Bamboo described as natural without disclosing the plastic resins used in manufacturing.
When we set up the ethical gift box, we decided to approach sourcing differently. Instead of applying feel-good labels, we built a documented framework of 14 criteria -- each one based on a verifiable standard, a recognised certification, or a specific documented supplier practice. Every product in our range must meet one of the criteria before it is listed. The criteria met by each product are published on every product page. If you want to verify any claim, the information is available.

Yes. We can provide supplier certifications, ethical criteria documentation and product sourcing information for any product in our range. Please get in touch with the specific product name and the documentation you require.
We review our supplier relationships on an ongoing basis and update product pages when certification status or supplier information changes. Our criteria framework is reviewed annually. If you have a suggestion for an additional criterion or a concern about a current listing, please contact us.
If a supplier loses a relevant certification -- for example B Corp certification lapses at recertification -- we update the product page to remove that criterion immediately and contact the supplier for an explanation. If the situation is not resolved satisfactorily, we remove the product from our range. We do not leave outdated claims on product pages.
