The story behind Cajuu’s begins back in 1978 when the grandparents who were running a suiting and tailoring business in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania offered cashew nuts to their customers who loved to snack on them while they were getting measured. More and more people started coming in purely for the cashews - and so the journey began!

Cajuu have formed partnerships with hundreds of cashew farmers throughout southern Tanzania with whom they have close bonds and great working relationships enabling the farmers to take ownership of their farming.

Cajuu offer higher prices than bulk buyers in return for the guaranteed supply of the best product and make several donations to the farming communities to better their lives.

What sets Cajuu apart is that their cashew nuts are only ever naturally obtained from the shell through hand processing thereby reducing the need for chemicals and the overall carbon footprint.

As part of their strategy on Sustainability, Cajuu have a close link with the professors at the ‘Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute’ (TARI) in Naliendele who advise them and their cashew farming partners to ensure that the cashew Nuts are naturally bigger, better and more resilient from harvest to harvest.

They are continually working on exciting projects to advance research into the broad range of possible Cashew by-products.
