Beautiful Naga cushion with hand embroidered figures of animals and tribal people.
Fairly traded made with fabric handwoven by the Chin ethnic people of Northwest Myanmar. Woven on traditional back strap and foot looms the patterns and motifs reflect Chin culture and its environment.
Most of the weavers are women who make textiles to supplement their primary income from farming.
The textiles are purchased ethically from an organisation in Yangon who provide a sustainable market place, business and design training to support the livelihood of the producers, many of whom are struggling to overcome basic needs, exclusion and poverty.
In 1973, The Thai Tribal Crafts (TTC) was established with main objective to provide opportunities for improving the quality of life of the tribal people in the Northern Thailand.
They have been a certified member of World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO) since 2002 and operate fully under fair trade principles.
