Passa Paa is a textile studio in Luang Prabang, Laos that merges traditional Hmong handicraft skills with a modern print aesthetic to produce a vibrant collection of textiles based on Hmong motifs.
Based on fair trade principals, Passa Paa works in collaboration with a number of tribal Hmong families within Luang Prabang province.
Hmong women in the surrounding villages stitch their appliqué magic on to the textiles using sewing skills that have been passing through their family for generations.
Finally the products are assembled locally by a local self taught Hmong tailor and his family. Each piece is unique, made with care and layers of craft both new and old.
With their passion for ‘the handmade’, ’the traditional’ and exploring new ideas, Passa Paa strive to keep craft alive for the generations to come.
