Some 288 million cluster munitions and about 75 million unexploded bombs were left across Laos after the Indo China War ended. Between 1999 and 2008, there were 2,184 casualties (including 834 deaths) from UXO incidents.
This beautiful necklace features two metal pendants attached to a stylish suede cord. It has been exquisitely handcrafted by transforming the scrap metal from unexploded bombs into an item of beauty whilst removing a threat from the every day lives of Laotians.
Ma Té Sai is a fair trade organisation in Luang Prabang, Laos selling authentic Lao handmade products guaranteeing a fair and sustainable income for their many artisan suppliers.
Their business began out of a wish to promote unique handicraft from villages across Laos.
Every item they sell is not only a beautiful object or a nice present, it is a piece of identity, the history of someone, somewhere, who put their heart into making it.
