Born and raised in Chiang Mai, Lamai was one of seven children. Her parents made clothes for the children using hand processed and sewn cotton from the family's cotton farm, and as a result, at a young age Lamai learnt to transform silk and cotton using a hand loom.
Family is very important to Lamai and she still lives together with her older sister, who although over 90, continues to sew bags made from fabric offcut pieces.
Located in Chiang Mai, Thailand, SOAP-n-SCENT is part of a regional, time-honoured tradition of creative handicrafts and strives to keep this cherished culture alive.
Produced entirely from enriching natural ingredients, each soap bar is a harmonious marriage of enticing scents and sumptuous skin care emollients, handmade using traditional methods in fair and safe working conditions. Formulated with pure essential oils and natural colours.
Vegan Friendly. Soap-n-Scent Soap consider it immoral to kill an animal for a bar of soap. All their soaps are made with pure vegetable oils that do not clog skin pores unlike animal fats.
Developed to support the skills of local artisans, the Luang Prabang Handicraft Association is committed to promoting the handicrafts of Luang Prabang Province and the knowledge of the regional Tai Lue weavers whose renowned skills have been passed down generationally for centuries.
The advanced skills of weavers of the past are still alive in the fingers and imagination of present-day artisans thanks to the support of the LPHA who ensures all artisans in the cooperative receive a fair wage.
